Unshakable fact… Yaka is an outstanding artist.

A British citizen, Yaka was born in Lebanon and grew up in France. At the age of four, she was already a phenomenon, playing by ear the greatest movie themes on the piano … Trilingual, from both Eastern and Western cultures and education, Yaka was already open to the world.

At six years old, she left Lebanon with her family, bound for Paris. She immediately stood out at school with her musical ear, and was soon noticed and encouraged. She began taking piano lessons, but they ended after only a few months as piano hire proved too expensive. A year of solfege at the conservatory followed, where she was often reprimanded for prompting the correct notes to her fellow pupils during musical dictation.

The rest of her musical education was totally self-taught. Aged eleven, she decided to pursue a career as a singer. She managed to obtain a keyboard and went on to compose and record her first demos in secret, away from home. She won first prize at a contest with one of her compositions when she was only twelve years old. As a result, her parents got word of her musical work, and felt quite concerned about it. Next came her first home studio sessions with her own material, along with her very first singing lessons; she was fourteen.

At the age of sixteen, she obtained an audition to work with a producer and songwriter. Ahead of her class at school, taken up with her personal endeavour to pursue her career and having to deal with stress, she decided to put an end to her school education. Then followed a stream of experiences, encounters, partnerships, stage performances, travels and references, as well as enriching, thrilling, fulfilling projects for Yaka; indeed, her sheer determination and limitless work capacity, parallel to her own personal work in songwriting and computer assisted (also self-taught) demo recording quite naturally attracted the world of music to her. Her songs brought her a great sense of fulfilment and held the promise of success with audiences, which proved to be true on stage.

She left Paris after falling in love with Brittany, France, so musically rich in its nature, its history and its culture.

Her Album…

Yaka does not search for her songs, she simply lets them flow through her. Yaka does not just fashion melodies accompanied with words but rather she thinks music in its entirety, with images, colours, scents, arrangements and ambiances in the manner of a movie, a theatre play, a voyage, as would a genius conductor.

Yaka does not seek to fit the mould, rather and above all she reaches for the sheer pleasure of sharing her passion.

She crafted this album with twelve pop-rock songs, each a great potential success, inspired from the Earth, the Wind, the Sea and Love.

Among her early career encounters,Yaka crossed paths with a producer and exceptional drummer named Claude Salmiéri, whom she chose to shelter her inspirations in this jewel case.

Yaka is close to her audience: her catchy melodies matched with a sincere and generous voice and an outstanding artistic touch certainly won’t go unnoticed; indeed, they are the stamp of the greatest.

Her first album is a true invite to journey beyond the frontiers of the world and of time.

N’ayons pas peur des mots, Yaka est une artiste hors norme.

Britannique, Yaka est née au Liban, et grandit en France.

A  l’âge de 4 ans, elle représentait déjà un phénomène pour  l’entourage, rejouant d’oreille au piano les plus grands thèmes de musiques de  film. . .

Trilingue, une éducation et une culture d’Orient et d’Occident, Yaka était déjà ouverte au monde.

A l’âge de 6 ans,  elle quittait le Liban avec sa famille pour Paris. Elle se distingua immédiatement à l’école par son oreille musicale, très  vite remarquée et encouragée. Elle débuta des leçons de piano qui  prirent fin au bout de quelques mois, ne pouvant plus le louer. Une  année de solfège au conservatoire s’ensuivit, où elle fut régulièrement  réprimandée, soufflant les notes à ses voisins pendant les dictées  musicales.

Le reste de son apprentissage  musical fut entièrement autodidacte. A l’âge de 11 ans, elle décida de  consacrer son avenir à une carrière dans la chanson. Elle parvint à se  procurer un clavier, à y composer et enregistrer ses premières  maquettes en secret, hors de chez elle. Elle remportait un  premier concours à l’âge de 12 ans, par une de ses compositions. Ce  concours ne lui rapporta pas grand chose si ce n’est la découverte de son travail musical par ses  parents, affolés. S’ensuivirent ses premières séances en home studio de ses propres compositions à l’âge de 14 ans, ainsi que ses  premiers cours de chant.

A l’âge de 16 ans, elle remporta une audition pour travailler avec un producteur, auteur-compositeur. En avance au lycée, dans son engagement personnel à faire carrière et face au surmenage, elle décida alors d’arrêter sa scolarité. Des expériences, rencontres,  collaborations, scènes, voyages, références et projets enrichissants,  enthousiasmants, valorisants se succèdèrent pour Yaka, attirant le monde de la musique à elle par sa détermination et sa force de  travail sans limite, parallèlement à un travail personnel d’écriture de  chansons et de maquettage par elle-même, sur informatique (formation  autodidacte également). Ses chansons lui  apportèrent son total épanouissement et les promesses d’un succès auprès du public, qui se vérifia sur scène.

Elle quitta Paris après un coup de foudre pour  la Bretagne, riche en musique dans sa nature, son histoire, sa culture.

Yaka ne cherche pas les chansons qu’elle vous  présente, elle se laisse traverser par elles. Yaka ne propose pas des  mélodies accompagnées de mots mais pense la musique dans son entièreté,  dans ses images, ses couleurs, ses parfums, ses arrangements, ses  ambiances, tel un film, une pièce de théâtre, un voyage, telle un chef d’orchestre surdoué.

Yaka ne cherche pas à rentrer dans le moule, mais le plaisir et le partage de ses envies avant tout.

Un album de douze titres pop-rock qui sont chacun un grand succès potentiel, inspirés de la Terre, du vent, de la mer, de l’amour.

Au milieu de ses  rencontres de débuts de carrière, Yaka croisa il y a quelques années un  musicien, réalisateur et batteur d’exception, Claude Salmiéri, qu’elle  choisit aujourd’hui pour permettre cet écrin.

Yaka est proche du public : on se souviendra de ses mélodies, conçues comme des hymnes, on reconnaîtra sa voix vraie et généreuse et sa patte créatrice, comme les plus grands.

Par ce premier album, elle nous invite aujourd’hui à traverser avec elle les frontières du monde et le temps.
